And that column shifter is for a 4-speed manual, too.

Fun thing, these are virtually all 4-speed manuals with column shift. MB didn’t have an in-house automatic until ~1962, Hydrak cars are very rare, and these never (as far as I know) received the Borg-Warner automatic used in Adenauers. Pre-1965 fintails with manual will also be a 4 on the tree.

Upholstery in that car isn’t my first choice, otherwise, looks like a good driver.

Agree on the upholstery choice, but that Ponton is a pretty car.

However, the interior of an Adenauer is even more gorgeous than this is. Those cars just have incredible presence all around.

For me the interior wood work is what makes me want this car.

Rusty has a three-on-the-tree and it’s fun to drive something that many people have never seen. I have a five-speed for it...

Nice! Is that a 250 intruding on passenger space there?

Hmm, would it be reasonable to put in the 5-speed and keep the column shift? Seems like that would be a pain in the rear, but would be cool.

Thanks. Yes, 250, which is why I bought it.

No, I’ll make a hole in the floor right behind the doghouse and have the shift lever stick right up through. But I’ll drive the three-speed a while first.

Nice - and yeah, the tree-fiddy Chevy gets a lot of love, but the 250 is a damn good motor. Enjoy!

Thank you. I have a old timer in Nashville who is advising me. He’s a stove bolt expert from way back. The plan is for an Offenhauser intake manifold, a freer-breathing exhaust manifold from a 292 and a wider exhaust pipe. Later on, a torquer cam and 307 V8 pistons with a crown that will raise the compression. In time... Right now, I need to bring the charging system on line...

Offenhauser intake - - so, a 4 barrel then? I know these things can make a reasonable amount of power if you open them up like that - good luck!

Two-barrel Holley 350. A 250 CID engine, I am taught by my Old Guy Mentor, is only capable of about 300 CFM of air movement at 6000 rpm. So anything more would be wasted carburetion.

Ah - I know Pontiac put a Q-jet on their Sprint 6, maybe that was just overkill for marketing purposes, I’m guessing—

The Q-jet was a very versatile carb. It was designed with a vacuum operated door, so it will only flow the amount of air the engine demands. A lot of guys don’t like them, because they can be a PITA to tune, but once they’re in tune they’re actually quite good. My dad swears he was the local Q-jet tuning ace back in the 70's, before he got sick of spinning wrenches and went into construction. My dad is a particularly anal trouble shooter, so I’m inclined to believe him. It sounds like the kind of thing he’d be good at. He sells and installs Generac backup generators now, and is one of the few guys in the area who takes on warranty jobs, because he likes the challenge.

That’s awesome! And based on what O.C. said, I wonder if the Q-jet on that OHC 6 ever really opened the secondaries fully.
